New Job Club Rolls Out in WorkSource Centers
A new model for Job Club has been developed by Job Growers Human Resources and Training Director Susan Barksdale and Business Representative Dameieon Scheideman, with assistance from Job Growers WorkSource Center staff. The new Job Club, which will roll out November 1 in all the Centers, will be an “elite” club. Entrance will require completion of all the “Passport to Success” workshops. Also required will be an agreement signed by a potential Club participant that he/she will attend dressed professionally and participate in all Club activities.
A new topic will be taught every week by Dameieon Scheideman on various topics having to do with every aspect of job search. It is anticipated that employers will attend on occasion as well to talk with job seekers and answer questions about employer expectations, the labor market, and other topics.
Job seekers can attend Job Club as long as they are unemployed. If they haven’t found work after a time, a Job Growers staff person may recommend additional assessments, workshops, or other assistance to help in the job search.
Research shows that in this economy, job seekers need all the help they can get. Going through the Skill Path workshops, networking and learning more in Job Club will be a big step in the right direction for those motivated job seekers.
