Enterprise Board Activities & Requirements |
|
Directors actively engage in the work of the Enterprise by identifying workforce needs, creating new partnerships, finding additional resources, and advocating for workforce development. Working with businesses and industry groups, they form a potent “brain trust” for workforce development.
Over the last decade, the Enterprise has invested more than $50,000,000 into:
- • WorkSource Oregon Centers and a Youth Opportunity System;
- • Matching grants for businesses to “skill up” their current workforce and implement high performance workplace strategies;
- • Industry consortia to leverage training for larger numbers of companies.
As a Director of the Enterprise, you will assist with the allocation of resources and help develop and carry out additional workforce development efforts.
Requirements
- • Attend the required new board member orientation.
- • Attend at least 50% of the board’s quarterly meetings (including retreats) annually. Any Director failing to meet this criterion will be considered to have resigned. Directors must contact the President or Executive Director if they are unable to attend a meeting.
- • Serve on at least one standing or ad hoc committee annually.
Meetings
Directors are asked to block 3 hours for a mandatory orientation, 2.5 hours for each board meeting and the entire day for the annual board retreat. Committee levels of engagement vary, but Directors should plan on about 1 — 3 hours bi-monthly.
