The Mary Pearmine Workforce Leadership award was created by the Enterprise for Employment and Education in 2003 to increase employer awareness of workforce development issues, and engage local businesses by investing in the development of their current and future workforces. This award recognizes individuals or organizations in the private sector that actively invest in the development of a more highly skilled and capable workforce.
Mary Pearmine was a strong member of the Enterprise Board and an advocate for the workforce development community. Actively involved with many groups and worthy causes, Mary was most recognizeable as a Marion County Commissioner, the first woman ever to be elected to that position. While on the board, her considerable energies were focused on pulling together often-divergent points of view to benefit workforce, economic, and community development.
All of the nominees must demonstrate a passion for improving the skills and prospects of others. They must display both commitment and energy to enhancing workforce leadership and training.
The Enterprise Board of Directors and the Current Workforce Committee will accept nominations for an individual, team or company located in Marion, Polk or Yamhill counties for the Mary Pearmine Workforce Leadership Award. The Current Workforce Committee and the Enterprise Board of Directors will review and select based on the stated criteria in the application. All awardees will be recognized at the Sparkle of Excellence Annual Awards Dinner. Dinner held in April each year.
